Every day last week, my son picked me a handful of dandelions on his way home from the bus. I was just as delighted to receive them as he was to give them to me. Each time, we would put them in a vase on the table to display. One evening, while we were taking a walk, he asked me, “Why are some Sunflowers considered weeds and some aren’t?” We happened to be walking through a dandelion dotted field right at that moment. That’s when it hit me: bless his heart, he thought he had been picking me sunflowers- my favorite- this whole time! And how would he know any different? I received them just as though they were the finest flowers I’d ever seen. But it wasn’t about the flowers at all- it was about the love that he handed me every day. I couldn’t have asked for anything more precious.
